Troop 1 Parents Meeting

7:00 PM, St. Ed’s cafeteria

1) Call the meeting to order (Dana Jensen)

2) Welcome and introduction, Parents Present: Lisa Musgrave, Steve Murphy, Steve Davis, Dana Jensen, Faye Graham, Christi Benson, Linda Stamp, Al Degenhardt

3) Approval of previous meeting minutes                       

4) Reports:                

·               Scoutmaster -none

·               Secretary -none

·               Treasurer -none

·               Outdoor/activities coordinator

·        Troop Campout, Jan 8-9, Twelve scouts, 4 adults. Discussed need for 2 cabins or alternate camping sight with more room, due to number of campers

·        Wild Game Feed / Court of Honor, Jan 15 (Ken B, Steve M)

·        Klondike Derby, Feb 5, Seven scouts, Perfect Score, 4th place of 57 teams, 12 teams with perfect scores, Winners determined by tie breakers

·        Scout Sunday, Feb 6   Approx 30 Cub Scouts and 30 Boy Scouts participated. Thanks to Jon Beyer.

·        Red Flannel Campout, Feb 11-13  New scouts are invited.

·        Flapjacker pancake breakfast, March 5  Need 9 working positions, 2 ½ hour shifts. Also needed:3 adults for bake sale coordination. Contact Al Degenhardt

·        UNI Wellness Center lock-in, March 5-6 (Steve S) Activity for Webelos II introduction to boy scouting

·        Advancement coordinator

·        Advancement activities (Chris K)  Advancements: 1st Class, Zach Benson, Nick Davis; Star: James Even; Merit Badge: Josh Musgrave- Personal Management

·        Lakeland district merit badge college, Clear Lake, Mar 5.  Those interested please contact Steve Murphy

·        Chaplain

·        Winnebago Council Catholic Awards Ceremony, St. Ed's, Jan 23. Ceremony to be in Cedar Rapids next year. Leaders will determine which scouts are candidate for religious awards during the next year.

·        Training coordinator

·        Equipment coordinator

·        Feasibility of storage shed - Discussion with Building & Grounds Chair indicates storage shed not feasible at this time. Will check into renting storage shed and purchasing second trailer. Need suggestions for additional options.

·        Fundraising coordinator

·        Wreath sales wrap-up - Successful, Raised over $4,000.00. In 2003, raised $2,600. In 2002, $2,300. In 2001, $2000. Thanks to Lisa Musgrave

·         Pancake breakfast at KC hall, Jan 16 - Eleven scouts, 11 adults, raised $370.00. Will try to reserve another date in April.

·        Flapjackers pancake breakfast ticket sales Mar 5 (Al D, Craig D)

·        Pop can collection fundraiser update -  Scheduled for Feb 26, April 2, June 4 at St. Ed’s parking lot, 10-4. Need volunteers for 2 hour shifts, 1 adult, 2-3 scouts per shift.

·        Membership coordinator

·        Webelos transition from Pack 25  -  6 Scouts, 4 Adults

·        Webelos transition from Sacred Heart -  Crossover Ceremony, Feb 19, 5 Scouts

·        Webelos transition from Blessed Sacrament  (No Webelo scouts in pack)

5) Old Business

·        Troop organization – Position still open. Contact Chris Klaren if interested in specific duties.

·        Sun Rivers district swim program – Cancelled due to pool unavailability

·        Boundary Waters, June 18-25  - 27 to 28 Campers. Arrangements for swimming requirements are being investigated.

6) New Business

·        Summer camp organization, July 10-16 (Steve B)

7) Announcements

·        Winnebago Recognition Dinner, Saturday, Feb 26, UNI Mauker Auditorium, $22.00 per ticket. 5:30 Social Hour, 6:00 Dinner

·        District Recognition Dinner, Friday, April 1, UAW Hall,

·        Next parents meeting Monday, March 7, 2005, 7:00 PM, St. Ed’s cafeteria
