Troop 1 Parents Meeting

Camp Ingawanis, 6:00 PM, Parents’ Night potluck dinner followed.

1) Called the meeting to order (Steve Murphy)

2) Parents Present: Penny & Jim O’Connor, Faye & Ken Graham, Dana Jenson, Jon & Cindy Beyer, Tom Randolph, Andy Mills, Kirk Brownson, Rich Hansen, Steve Davis, Ken Stamp, Rick & Michelle Westphal, Mrs. Breuer

3) Previous meeting minutes approved                           

4) Reports:                

·        Scoutmaster

·        National Jamboree, July 25 - August 3, 2005 (Al Degenhardt) Report will be given at Court of Honor on August 7.

·        Secretary

·        Treasurer

·        Outdoor/activities coordinator

·        Canoeing campout, July 8-10 (Al) SUCCESSFUL!

·        Troop 1 Court of Honor & family cookout, Aug 7, Miller Park – Watch e-mail for details.

·        Troop Campout, Aug 12-14, Arrangements to be finalized by Scouts at July 24th and August 7th meetings.

·        Advancement coordinator

·        Advancement activities (Tom R) Merit badges in progress: Environmental Science, Citizenship & Nation, Soil & Water Conservation. Scout Camp Merit badges, & Boundary Waters Merit badges to be awarded. One Eagle Scout Rank to be finalized in near future.

·        Chaplain

·        Ad Altare Dei update (Steve M) 3 Scouts in process. Goal to be completed by December.

·        Training coordinator

·        Equipment coordinator

·        Storage facility proposal, presentation to Parish Council (Steve D) Buildings & Grounds committee approved site at east end of parking lot. Steve Murphy will convene design committee. Steve Davis will coordinate fund raising. Goal is to build facility in Spring of 2006.

·        Fundraising coordinator

·        Pop can collection fundraiser:  July 9: Jayhawks Patrol staffed entire time.

 Next scheduled for Aug 6, 10:00-2:00: Wolverines &  Ravens staffing

Sept 10, 10:00-2:00: Jayhawks & Dragons staffing

Save Your Pop Cans for Troop 1

·        Sturgis Falls fundraiser results (Steve M) Successful and we plan to participate next year.

·        Membership coordinator

5) Old Business

·        Boundary Waters, June 18-25, final report (Steve M) EXCELLENT TRIP, Activities included swimming, fishing, canoeing, & portaging. Look forward to repeating this high adventure trip in Summer of 2007.

·        Summer camp update (July 10-16) Final report at next meeting.

6) New Business

·        September 16,17,18- Campout-Camp Courageous at Monticello, Kirk Brownson coordinating

7) Announcements

·        Next parents meeting Monday, September 12, 2005 at Buck’s Broken Antler, food available at 6:30, meeting starts at 7:00 PM
