Troop 1 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order by Jon Beyer

2) Attending:  Jon Beyer; Steve Davis; Dana Jenson; Chris Klaren; Tim Klein

3) Approval of previous meeting minutes – March minutes approved.

4) Reports:

·         Scoutmaster – no report

·         Secretary – no report

·         Treasurer – no report

·         Outdoor/activities coordinator

·         Easter week activities – all of the activities were completed, will likely do them again next year.  More Scouts and adults would have been helpful in setting up the church basement for mass and then resetting it Sunday evening.

o       Knights of Columbus Easter egg hunt, Sat Apr 11

·         OA Spring Fellowship, April 17-19, Camp Ingawanis – no report

·         Troop campout, April 24-26  – current plans are that the troop will attend the Spring Camporee

·         Spring campout schedule  – no report

·         Summer camp, June 21-27, update  – no report

·         Advancement coordinator

·         Advancement activities – no report

·         Chaplain – no report

·         Training coordinator

·         Training for new adult leaders – the following training is offered by the Council and recommended for the new Assistant Scoutmasters.

o       April 18, 2009 Boy Scout Leader, Scoutmaster/ASM, Committee
Eagle Lodge, Camp Ingawanis

o       May 15-17, 2009 Outdoor Skills Instruction (OSI) – Camp Ingawanis (Friday, Registration at 5:00 pm – Sunday afternoon)

·         Equipment coordinator – no report

·         Fundraising coordinator

·         Pop can collection fundraiser – next pop can collections are scheduled for May 2 and 30.

·         UNI Dome concessions, update – latest fundraiser was working concessions all day at the wrestling tournament.  No more are scheduled this spring or summer.  Overall, this fundraiser was well coordinated and a great way for Scouts and parents to fund high adventure trips, summer camp, and jamboree.

·         Membership coordinator

·         2009 Rechartering update – information continues to be gathered, and expect to have it completed by the end of this week.

·         Round Table Update – no report

5) Old Business

·         Parent sign-up calendar, update – a campout schedule is needed before parents can be expected to sign up.

·         New parent leadership for the troop & additional assistant Scoutmasters – Youth Protection training is needed for the new registered leaders, and likely for other registered adults in the troop.  This can be found on-line.

·         Boundary Waters, summer 2009, update (Steve M) – no report

·         High adventure activities, update on Sea Base 2009 – The final travel details are coming together, and it has the makings of a great trip.  Thank you Tim for taking your time to pull this all together.

·         National Jamboree, July 2010, update  – no report

6) New Business

·         June 15 parents meeting scheduled during Sea Base – combine with July?  The June parents meeting will be rescheduled for June 29 and the July meeting will be canceled.

7) Announcements                             

·         Next parents meeting Monday, May 18, 2009 at AJ’s Eatery & Spirits (by Target), meeting starts at 7:30 PM. 

·         Sun Rivers Recognition dinner, UAW Hall, Friday, May 1, 6:00 social hour, 7:00 dinner and program.  Contact the Scout Office by April 20 for reservations

8) Adjournment – Upon having completed the evening’s business, the meeting was adjourned.
