Troop 1 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order

2) Attending:  Tony Clasen; Jeff Finley; Faye Graham; John Henry; Chris Klaren; Jim Koch; Cristina & Publio Ortiz; Dan Parsons; Grant Weidner

3) Approval of previous meeting minutes – December minutes approved

4) Reports:

·         Scoutmaster – Thank you to Tom Kneeland for his service as Committee Chair the last 2-1/2 years.  Thank you to John Henry for stepping up to serve as Committee Chair moving forward.

·         Secretary – no report

·         Treasurer

·         Troop financial report:  The troop currently has approximately $3500 in the account.  Individual scout accounts are being updated to reflect their fundraising efforts and activity expenses.  Account balances will be sent to each of the Scouts after the latest UNI Concessions check is apportioned.

·         Outdoor/activities coordinator

·         Troop campout, Dec 17-18, update:  The campout turned out to be too warm to qualify for a Red Flannel campout, but the 7 Scouts and 3 adults attending had a great time anyway.  Ask them about the “kickball world championship”.

·         Santa’s workshop, set up and tear down, report:  the setup went fine, taking about 45 minutes, no report on the teardown.

·         Church Hall setup for Christmas mass Dec 24, and reset Dec 26:  4 Scouts and 4 adults set up in about 40 minutes, and 1 Scout and 2 adults did the reset in about 1 hour.

·         Welch Village ski trip, Jan 20-22, update:  Van sent an email with the event details to the troop.20-22 total Scouts and adults are planning to make the trip.

·         Scout Sunday, Feb 5, update:  The troop has filled all of the positions, coordinating with Pack 25.

·         Advancement coordinator

·         Advancement activities – No advancements since the last parents meeting.  Logan Graham and Drew Klein are scheduled for their Eagle Board of Reviews on Jan 17.

·         Wabuha Merit Badge University, March 24:  4 Scouts have registered to-date.  Registration ends Feb 3.

·         Chaplain

·          

·         Training coordinator

·          

·         Equipment coordinator

·          

·         Fundraising coordinator

·         Pop can collection, Jan 7 report, next scheduled February 11, March 10, April 21, and June 9:  the January can drive was fairly good with a number of Scouts helping out.

·         Flapjackers pancake breakfast, March 3, UAW Hall, update:  There has been some discussion about group sales after each mass on a selected weekend or perhaps at Walmart.

·         Membership coordinator

·         Pack 25 is reportedly down to 4 Cub Scouts, with no Tigers or Webelos.  The troop will need to contact the Council to get some help to increase the pack’s membership and improve the program.

·         Round Table Update

5) Old Business

·         Rechartering update:  Rechartering is essentially complete, with 24 Scouts and 19 adults registered.

6) New Business

·         The Easter cross at St. Ed’s needs some refinishing and refurbishment.  Jim will discuss this with the parish council to see if they will address the structural work needed, and the troop could possibly help with the refinishing.

·         A new meeting location will need to be found, as AJ’s has apparently closed.  Chris will contact the OP on Ridgeway to see if they can accommodate our group.

7) Announcements

·         Next parents meeting Monday, February 13, 2012 at a location to be determined, meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

8) Adjournment – Upon having completed the evening’s business, the meeting was adjourned.
